Isolation and switching for industrial signal paths
The HCPL0453R2 is a single-channel optocoupler from onsemi with a transistor output, rated for 2500Vrms isolation between input and output — enough for galvanic isolation in 24V PLC digital inputs, motor drive feedback, and isolated sensor interfaces. The 450ns turn-on and 300ns turn-off typical times support switching up to roughly 1 MHz, depending on load and pull-up resistance.
Package and temperature range for board-level fit
Housed in an 8-SOIC package (3.90 mm width, 0.154" body), the HCPL0453R2 is a surface-mount part supplied on Tape & Reel or Cut Tape. The maximum forward current is 25 mA, and the typical forward voltage is 1.45V — compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic outputs driving the LED side through a series resistor.
For smaller quantities or prototyping, the Cut Tape variant is also available.
