4170Vrms isolation for mains-barrier designs
The H11D1VM from onsemi is a single-channel optoisolator with a DC input and a phototransistor output that brings out the base pin. The 4170Vrms isolation rating covers reinforced insulation for 240VAC mains monitoring, motor-drive feedback, and industrial PLC input modules — you get a clean safety barrier without a separate isolated DC-DC on the secondary side.
300V output and 100mA drive for high-side loads
The output transistor is rated for 300V collector-emitter and can sink 100mA continuous. That is enough to switch a small relay coil, drive a 24V industrial logic input, or level-shift a 5V logic signal to a 48V bus. The 400mV max Vce(sat) at 100mA keeps conduction loss low — no heatsink needed in a DIP-6. Minimum current transfer ratio is 20% at 10mA forward current. That means with 10mA through the LED you get at least 2mA at the output — enough to pull a 5V logic input low through a 2.2kΩ pull-up. The base pin lets you adjust switching speed with an external resistor or bias the transistor for linear operation.
Through-hole DIP-6 with exposed base pin
The H11D1VM comes in a standard 0.300-inch 6-DIP package, through-hole mount. That is a field-swappable package — no hot-air station needed, just a desoldering pump and a steady hand. The base pin is brought out on pin 6, which lets you add a speed-up capacitor or a base-emitter resistor to tailor turn-off time.
