4170Vrms isolation, transistor with base output
The H11AV1SM is a single-channel optoisolator from onsemi, isolating a DC input from a transistor-with-base output at 4170Vrms. The base terminal is brought out, giving the designer control over the output transistor's bias point or the ability to implement a photodarlington configuration with an external transistor.
CTR range and switching speed
Current transfer ratio is specified from 100% to 300% at a forward current of 10 mA. That 3:1 spread means the input LED drive must be set to guarantee the minimum CTR delivers the required output current across temperature and device variation. Turn-on and turn-off times are both 15 µs typical, 15 µs maximum — adequate for 50/60 Hz line sensing and slow digital isolation, but not for high-speed data links. Maximum forward current is 60 mA; the typical forward voltage is 1.18 V. The output transistor can handle up to 70 V collector-emitter with a saturation voltage of 400 mV maximum.
