AC/DC input optocoupler for line-voltage sensing
The H11AA4TVM is a single-channel optoisolator from onsemi that accepts both AC and DC input, letting you sense rectified mains or DC logic on the same pin pair without an external bridge rectifier — a BOM simplification for zero-cross detectors, AC-line monitors, and isolated feedback loops. Its 4170Vrms isolation rating provides a safety barrier for 240VAC line-powered circuits, meeting reinforced insulation requirements for industrial power supplies and motor drives. The output is a phototransistor with base access, giving you the option to bias the base for faster switching or to tie it off for standard phototransistor operation.
CTR floor and saturation margin
Vce saturation is capped at 400mV max, keeping the output voltage drop low enough to register as a solid logic low on 3.3V or 5V rails without a pull-up resistor adjustment. Output is rated for 30V and 50mA continuous, so it can switch low-current DC loads like PLC input modules or status LEDs without a buffer transistor.
