4170Vrms isolation barrier — what it means for the BOM
The H11A1TM: Its 4170Vrms isolation rating provides reinforced insulation between the DC input and the output side — sufficient for safety isolation in mains-referenced circuits like AC line monitoring, power-supply feedback loops, and motor-drive status feedback where the control logic must stay galvanically separated from the high-voltage bus. The 50% minimum current transfer ratio at 10mA forward current means the output transistor saturates with as little as 5mA collector current — enough to drive a logic gate input or a microcontroller I/O pin directly through a pull-up resistor. The 400mV Vce saturation max keeps the logic-low voltage within TTL thresholds even at the minimum CTR.
2µs switching — fits 50/60 Hz line-cycle detection
Typical turn-on and turn-off times are both 2µs. This is fast enough to capture zero-crossing events in a 50/60 Hz AC waveform (a half-cycle is 8-10ms) with margin, but too slow for switching power-supply feedback loops running above 100 kHz. The part suits line-sync pulse detection, relay driver isolation, and status feedback from contactors or solenoids.
