Isolation barrier and signal path
The FODM453R2V is a single-channel optoisolator with a 3750Vrms isolation voltage, suitable for galvanic isolation in industrial controls, PLCs, and motor-drive interfaces where the barrier must withstand transient overvoltages without breakdown. DC input drives an infrared LED (1.6V typical forward voltage, 25 mA max forward current) coupled to a phototransistor output rated for 20V maximum and 8 mA continuous per channel. Switching times of 400 ns turn-on and 350 ns turn-off support signal isolation up to approximately 1.3 Mbps, adequate for digital I/O, encoder feedback, and isolated serial links.
Package and temperature range for assembly planning
Housed in a 5-lead 6-SOIC (0.173", 4.40 mm width) Mini-Flat package, the FODM453R2V is surface-mount compatible with standard SOIC-6 footprints — the missing pin 6 position is a moulded key, not a missing lead, so confirm the land pattern against the onsemi package drawing before layout. Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient, the part suits indoor industrial enclosures, outdoor telecom cabinets, and under-hood automotive auxiliary circuits where the temperature stays within that window. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) for automated pick-and-place, or Cut Tape (CT) for prototype and low-volume builds.
Sourcing and lifecycle status
onsemi lists the FODM453R2V as Active with no announced end-of-life — the BOM line is not under last-time-buy pressure, and the part is ROHS3 compliant. No stock-holding claim; we source to order.
