4170Vrms isolation in a through-hole DIP
The onsemi 4N25VM is a single-channel optoisolator in a 6-DIP through-hole package, delivering 4170Vrms of galvanic isolation between a DC input LED and a phototransistor output with a base connection. With a minimum current transfer ratio of 20% at 10mA forward current, this part provides reliable signal coupling across the isolation barrier for logic-level interfaces and low-speed switching applications.
Switching speed and drive margin
Typical turn-on and turn-off times are both 2µs, making the 4N25VM suitable for isolating digital signals up to a few hundred kilohertz — think PLC input modules, motor drive feedback, or microcontroller-to-power-stage interfaces. Forward current is rated to 60 mA absolute max, and the typical forward voltage is 1.18V — the LED side is compatible with standard 3.3V or 5V GPIO outputs through a current-limiting resistor.
