The Omron TL-W3MB1 is an unshielded inductive proximity sensor in a plastic barrel housing, rated IP67 for dust and temporary immersion. It detects ferrous targets at a nominal 3 mm distance and switches at up to 600 Hz, making it a fit for position sensing on conveyor guides, actuator end-stops, and part-present stations in industrial automation. The PNP normally-open output and 3-wire cable leads match standard PLC digital inputs; the LED indicator gives a quick visual on target state.
3 mm sensing distance — what it means for the installation
The 3 mm sensing distance (0.118 in) is a short-range detect; the target must pass within that gap reliably. Because the sensor is unshielded, it can be flush-mounted in metal without reducing the sensing range — a common concern when retrofitting into a machined pocket. At 600 Hz switching, it handles moderate-speed motion but will miss targets on a fast pick-and-place or a high-RPM spindle.
IP67 and operating temperature range
Rated IP67, the TL-W3MB1 withstands hose-down cleaning and occasional submersion — suitable for food-processing washdown zones or outdoor conveyor sections. The operating temperature spans -25°C to 70°C, covering most factory-floor environments but not freezer or oven-adjacent locations. Supply voltage is 10 V; confirm your PLC or DC supply provides a clean 10 V rail within the sensor's tolerance.
