Reflective photoelectric sensor with PLC-ready output
The Omron EE-SY672 is a compact reflective photoelectric sensor designed for presence detection of opaque objects like white paper within a 1-5 mm range. It operates on a 5 V supply and delivers a selectable NPN output — Dark-ON or Light-ON — making it directly compatible with PLC digital inputs without external level shifting. The infrared sensing light keeps it immune to ambient visible-light interference in indoor industrial environments.
Output configuration — Dark-ON / Light-ON selectable
The NPN open-collector output can be wired for either Dark-ON (output active when the target is absent) or Light-ON (output active when the target is present). This selection is typically made via a physical switch or jumper on the sensor body, giving the controls integrator flexibility to match the sensor logic to the PLC input polarity without adding an inverter. The output sinks up to 40 mA — enough to drive a small relay or indicator directly.
Mounting and wiring
The sensor mounts via solder terminals — no connector, no quick-disconnect. Plan for a fixed installation where the sensor is soldered directly to a PCB or terminal block. The bulk package means it ships loose, not on a reel. Keep the wiring short to avoid voltage drop on the 5 V supply line, especially if the sensor is more than a meter from the power source.
