What this slot sensor is and where it fits
The Omron EE-SX952P-W 1M is an amplified through-beam photoelectric sensor from the EE-SX95 series, designed for slot-type detection of opaque objects in industrial automation. It outputs a PNP signal that can be switched between Dark-ON and Light-ON modes via a selectable input, giving the controls integrator flexibility to match PLC input polarity without external inversion. The 0.197 mm slot width sets the minimum flag thickness the sensor can reliably detect — a common fit constraint for encoder disks, cam profiles, or part-present flags on pick-and-place stations.
24 V supply and output current — what they mean for the BOM
Rated for a 24 V supply rail, the sensor drops directly onto an industrial control bus without a separate regulator. The switching current of 0.05 A limits the direct drive capability — this output is sized for a PLC digital input or a signal-level relay, not a solenoid or contactor coil. If the load exceeds 50 mA, buffer through an interposing relay.
Temperature range — indoor cabinet, not outdoor
The -25°C to 55°C operating range covers most indoor industrial cabinets and factory-floor enclosures, but it does not extend to outdoor, freezer, or high-heat process zones. For environments that see sustained temperatures below -25°C or above 55°C, a wider-range sensor would be needed.
