What this sensor is and where it fits
The Omron EE-SX951P-W 1M is an amplified through-beam photoelectric sensor from the EE-SX95 series, designed for precise object detection in a compact chassis-mount package. It operates on a 24 VDC supply and provides a PNP output that is selectable between Dark-ON and Light-ON modes, giving the integrator flexibility to match the logic sense of the downstream PLC or counter input. The 0.197 mm slot width is sized for thin flags or edge detection on small moving parts — think label registration, tape break detection, or encoder-style counting on light-duty machinery. The 1 m cable length is pre-terminated, so the sensor arrives ready to wire into a terminal block or M12 connector.
PNP output: Dark-ON / Light-ON selectable
The output is PNP — it sources current when the beam is interrupted (or unbroken, depending on the selected mode). The Dark-ON/Light-ON selector lets you invert the logic without rewiring. That is useful when the same sensor model must work across different machine states: one line uses it to detect a part present (Light-ON), another uses it to detect a gap (Dark-ON). The switching current is rated at 0.05 A — enough to drive a small relay or a PLC input directly, but not a solenoid or contactor coil without an interposing relay.
Temperature range and mounting
Rated for -25°C to 55°C operating ambient, this sensor is at home in a heated factory or control cabinet. It is not rated for outdoor exposure or freezer environments. The chassis-mount form factor uses a through-hole or bracket; the 1 m cable exits the housing, so plan for strain relief and a clean cable route to the junction box.
