Slot sensor for tight registration and edge detection
The Omron EE-SPX613 is a through-beam slot sensor with an integrated amplifier, delivering an NPN output that is selectable between Dark-ON and Light-ON logic. The 0.236 mm sensing gap is sized for detecting small flags, web edges, or part presence in pick-and-place and packaging machinery. A 1 m integral cable simplifies wiring in chassis-mount installations, and the -10°C to 55°C operating range suits indoor control cabinets and conveyor lines without condensation or washdown exposure.
0.236 mm gap — what it means for your fixture
The 0.236 mm slot detects a paper edge or thin flag. The through-beam method gives a clean on/off transition with no background interference.
Selectable Dark-ON / Light-ON — wiring flexibility
The NPN output can be set to Dark-ON (output active when the beam is blocked) or Light-ON (output active when the beam is clear). That means one part number covers both normally-open and normally-closed logic without adding a PLC inversion or external relay. For a retrofit into a panel originally wired for Dark-ON, just leave the selector in that position; for a new line using Light-ON, flip it. No rewiring of the load side is needed.
