Omron EE-SPX303N — 0.512 mm slot sensor with selectable NPN output
The Omron EE-SPX303N is a through-beam optical slot sensor with a 0.512 mm sensing gap, designed for detecting object presence or edge position in tight mechanical assemblies. It operates on a 12 V supply and delivers an NPN open-collector output that can be wired for either Dark-ON or Light-ON logic via a selector switch — no firmware inversion needed at the PLC input. The chassis-mount package suits fixed-position installation on conveyor guides, pick-and-place grippers, or label applicator frames where the 0.512 mm slot width matches the target's thickness or flag profile.
Selectable Dark-ON / Light-ON — one sensor, two logic states
The NPN output can be configured as Dark-ON (output conducts when the beam is blocked) or Light-ON (output conducts when the beam is uninterrupted). This selector eliminates the need for a separate inverter or software logic reversal at the controller. The 0.512 mm slot is narrow — verify the flag or part thickness clears the gap without rubbing, and that the target material is opaque enough to interrupt the beam reliably.
Temperature range — indoor controlled environments
Rated for -10°C to 55°C ambient. This covers most indoor factory-floor and light-industrial settings, but not freezers, ovens, or outdoor enclosures without climate control. The 0.512 mm slot is sensitive to thermal expansion of the mounting bracket — allow for alignment drift if the sensor is near a heat source.
