The Omron E2B-M12KS04-WP-C1 2M is an inductive proximity sensor from the E2B series, designed for non-contact detection of ferrous metal targets in industrial automation. It is a shielded, M12 cylindrical sensor with a 4 mm sensing distance, NPN-NO (normally open) 3-wire output, and a 2-meter cable termination. Rated IP67, the nickel-plated brass housing withstands washdown and dusty environments typical of factory floors, packaging lines, and machine tool applications.
4 mm sensing distance — what it means for the machine
The 4 mm sensing distance is the maximum reliable detection range for a standard ferrous target. Because the sensor is shielded, it can be flush-mounted in metal without derating the sensing distance — a key advantage when mounting into a bracket or machine frame. This 4 mm reach suits close-proximity cam detection, end-of-stroke sensing on pneumatic cylinders, and part-present verification on conveyors where the target passes within a few millimeters.
NPN-NO output and wiring
The NPN-NO output sinks current when a target is detected, and the normally-open contact closes. The 3-wire configuration requires a 10 V supply.
IP67 and nickel-plated brass housing
Rated IP67, the sensor is dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water — suitable for coolant splash on machining centers, washdown in food processing, or outdoor installations under cover. The nickel-plated brass housing resists corrosion and mechanical impact better than plastic-bodied sensors, making it a fit for high-vibration or abrasive environments like conveyor lines and automated assembly stations.
