Logic capacity and I/O budget for BOM-fit
The EP4CE22E22I8L is an Intel Cyclone® IV E FPGA with 22,320 logic elements and 79 user I/O — a mid-density part for glue logic, sensor fusion, or display interface aggregation where a small MCU runs out of pins or peripheral count. 608,256 total RAM bits on-chip (about 76 KB) cover small FIFO buffers or line-store for video scan lines without external SRAM; the 1,395 LABs/CLBs give the routing fabric room for a 32-bit soft-core or a few parallel DSP pipelines.
Temperature grade and supply rail
An outdoor telecom or factory-floor controller that sees 85°C ambient still has thermal margin before the junction limit. Core supply is 0.97 V to 1.03 V — a tight 60 mV window. The board's local regulator must hold this tolerance across load steps; a 1.0 V LDO with 1% initial accuracy and 50 mV dropout at the FPGA's transient current keeps the core in spec.
Package and board integration
Without that, the 100°C junction limit is reached at lower ambient. Surface-mount only; no socket option. The 0.5 mm pitch LQFP fans out on two layers, but the exposed paddle blocks inner-layer routing under the package — plan escape routing on the outer layers.
