256 Mbit NOR flash for code shadowing and data logging
The S25FL256SAGMFV001 is a 256 Mbit SPI Quad I/O NOR flash from Infineon's FL-S series, organized as 32M x 8 bits. It clocks at 133 MHz, which with Quad I/O delivers a sustained read throughput suitable for execute-in-place (XIP) or fast code shadowing to RAM.
The supplier device package is 16-SOIC; the wide-body variant provides better thermal dissipation than the narrow SOIC for sustained read operations. Supplied in Tube packaging, it suits both hand-assembly prototype runs and pick-and-place lines with tube feeders. The surface-mount package requires no through-hole routing, simplifying the PCB layout on a 2-layer board if the trace lengths to the host are kept under 10 cm for 133 MHz signaling.
