Product details

The Infineon PVI5033RSPBF is a dual-channel photovoltaic optocoupler from the PVI series, delivering 3750Vrms isolation between input and output. Unlike a logic-output optocoupler, the output is a photovoltaic stack that generates a floating voltage (up to 10V) when the input LED is forward-biased. Each channel sources only 5µA, so this part is not a direct gate driver — it floats a gate voltage for a MOSFET or IGBT that has its own gate-charge supply, or it drives a high-impedance load such as a solid-state relay's control input.

Turn-on time is 2.5ms typical; turn-off is 500µs maximum. That is slow compared to a logic-level optocoupler — expect tens of milliseconds of propagation delay when driving a MOSFET gate through a charge-pump or bootstrap stage. For applications like AC mains zero-cross detection or slow-switching solid-state relays, the timing is fine. For a PWM-driven inverter stage above a few hundred hertz, the delay will distort the switching edges and you will need a faster isolator.

Input drive and forward current

The input LED is rated for a maximum DC forward current of 40 mA. The input type is DC only — no AC input detection.
