Product details

Under-hood high-side switching — 25 A continuous, 3.9 mOhm Rds(on)

The BTS500251TADATMA2: The 8-18 V load supply range maps directly to a 12 V automotive nominal rail — the 8 V floor covers a cold-crank dip, and the 18 V ceiling handles the alternator's steady-state regulation band without hitting the over-voltage protection threshold. The junction-to-ambient thermal resistance of the TO-263-7 D2PAK package depends on the PCB copper area under the exposed tab — a 1-inch-square pad on a 2-oz copper board keeps the die below 150 °C at full load in still air.

Fault protection set — over-temp, over-voltage, reverse battery, short circuit

The protection block covers the four failure modes that kill unprotected high-side switches in an automotive environment: over-temperature shutdown (die-level thermal flag), over-voltage clamp (load-dump survival without external TVS), reverse battery (the Reversave™ architecture blocks reverse current through the body diode), and short-circuit current limiting. The 1:1 input-to-output ratio and the fact that Vcc/Vdd is not required simplify the bill of materials: the switch is self-powered from the load supply, so no separate gate-drive rail or bootstrap capacitor is needed. The TO-263-7 package (6 leads plus tab) provides the exposed paddle for thermal dissipation — the tab is the drain connection, so the PCB copper plane is at battery voltage.

Active production — ROHS3, no NRND flag

ROHS3 compliant — the exemption-free status means no restricted substances above the threshold limits, which passes through to a finished ECU assembly without a substance declaration gap. The base product number is BTS50025; the suffix TADATMA2 encodes the tape-and-reel packaging and the specific test-program variant.
