High-side switch for 12V–48V loads
The Infineon BTS4140NHUMA1 is a single-channel high-side power switch in a PG-SOT223-4 package, rated for load voltages from 4.9V up to 60V and a continuous output current of 200mA. It integrates N-channel MOSFET with a typical on-resistance of 1 Ohm, and requires no separate Vcc supply — the load voltage drives the gate internally. The switch is controlled by a simple On/Off logic input (non-inverting), making it a drop-in for microcontroller GPIO-driven load switching in industrial and automotive environments. Built-in fault protection covers current limiting (fixed threshold), over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage clamping. The Auto Restart feature means the switch re-enables itself after a fault condition clears, which is useful for loads that may momentarily short or surge without requiring a system reset.
1 Ohm Rds(on) — thermal budget for 200 mA
Typical Rds(on) is 1 Ohm. Junction temperature rating is -40°C to 150°C.
Fault protection set — what it covers
The protection suite handles the three most common failure modes in switched loads: a hard short (current limiting clamps the output), a stalled or overloaded actuator (over-temperature shuts down the FET), and a load-dump or inductive kickback (over-voltage clamping protects the drain). Auto Restart then cycles the output back on after the fault subsides, so a momentary overload doesn't latch the load off permanently.
