The ESP32-D0WDR2-V3 delivers 19.5 dBm TX power and -98 dBm sensitivity. At free-space path loss, this combination yields a link margin of roughly 117.5 dB — enough for a 400+ metre line-of-sight link at 1 Mbps using a 0 dBi antenna. The real-world range depends on the antenna match and the environment; fix the pi-network match before blaming the firmware. It integrates a 2.4 GHz transceiver with 802.11b/g/n (HT20/HT40) and Bluetooth v4.2 + EDR, supporting 8DPSK, DSSS, DQPSK, and OFDM modulations. The 150 Mbps PHY rate is the ceiling; actual throughput is limited by the host interface and stack overhead.
Memory headroom and GPIO budget
With 2 MB PSRAM and 536 kB on-chip SRAM, the part can hold a full Wi-Fi/BLE stack plus a moderate application heap — roughly 1.5 MB available for user data after the protocol stacks. The 34 GPIOs map to ADC, I²C, I²S, SDIO, SPI, PWM, and UART interfaces, enough for a sensor cluster or a display with a parallel bus.
