Module integration and memory budget
The ESP32-S2-SOLO-U-N4R2 is a surface-mount WiFi module from the ESP32 series, integrating an ESP32-S2R2 IC with 4MB flash and 2MB PSRAM in a 40-SMD package. The 2MB PSRAM gives you room for frame buffers or larger data structures without eating into the 336kB internal SRAM — useful when handling camera or display data alongside the WiFi stack. With a 2.4GHz radio supporting 802.11b/g/n at up to 150Mbps and a transmit power of 19.5dBm, this module covers the common IoT WiFi band with enough link margin for indoor deployments through walls and ceilings.
Antenna options and receiver performance
The module offers both a PCB trace antenna and an IPEX connector for an external antenna — the PCB trace saves a BOM line for close-range applications, while the IPEX port lets you attach a higher-gain antenna when the module sits inside a metal enclosure. Receiver sensitivity is rated at -97dBm, which means the module can decode a signal at that level — useful for maintaining a connection at the edge of the access point's range or through obstructions.
Supply rails and temperature grade
Operates from 3V to 3.6V, drawing 71mA to 75mA while receiving and 165mA to 310mA while transmitting — the transmit current varies with output power setting, so budget the 310mA peak for the 19.5dBm case.
