40 MHz HCMOS clock in a 2.5×2.0mm package
The ECS-2520S30-400-FN-TR is a standard crystal oscillator delivering a 40 MHz HCMOS clock rail from a single 3 V supply. At ±10ppm frequency stability over -40°C to 85°C, it covers the industrial embedded timing band — not tight enough for GNSS or RF synthesis, but solid for MCU, FPGA, and PHY reference clocks where a few ppm drift over the temperature range is acceptable. HCMOS output swing means it interfaces directly with 3 V logic families — no level-shifting needed when the downstream device runs on the same rail. The Enable/Disable pin lets the host MCU gate the oscillator for low-power standby, drawing just 10 µA when disabled versus 7 mA running.
Package and board footprint
No exposed paddle on the bottom means thermal relief comes from the PCB pad rather than a dedicated pad tab. Tape-and-reel packaging (5,000 per reel typical) suits high-volume SMT pick-and-place. Verify the land pattern against the ECS datasheet before committing the BOM — the no-lead DFN-style footprint is sensitive to paste volume and reflow atmosphere.
Active status and sourcing posture
Listed Active by ECS Inc. — production is confirmed and the part routes through standard authorized distribution. The 3 V supply and industrial temp grade keep it inside the sweet spot for embedded and industrial control applications.
