The ECS-2200B-800 is a 5 V crystal oscillator in the ECS-2200 series, delivering an 80 MHz clock in HCMOS and TTL dual-output format inside a through-hole 8-DIP (4-lead, half-size metal can) package.
Dual-logic outputs and the Enable/Disable pin
Both HCMOS and TTL levels on the same device means it drives whatever logic family the downstream IC prefers without level-shifting circuitry — a useful feature when a board mixes legacy TTL glue logic with modern HCMOS buffers or FPGAs. The Enable/Disable control pin lets the oscillator be powered down without removing the supply rail, dropping current draw to near zero — useful for power-saving modes in instrumentation or bus-hold clock distribution where the clock is gated by downstream logic.
Supply current and thermal headroom
Maximum supply current is 77 mA, which is the figure to use for power budget calculations; the oscillator dissipates roughly 385 mW internally at 5 V.
Frequency stability and the commercial temperature constraint
±50 ppm frequency stability over the commercial temperature band is the standard grade for this series — adequate for digital logic clocks, microcontroller timing references, and UART clock domains where a few tens of ppm drift across temperature is well within the baud-rate tolerance. The 0°C lower limit excludes outdoor or unheated industrial deployments without enclosure climate control; for those environments a -40°C industrial-grade oscillator would be the correct step up from this series.
