Threshold and timeout — the two numbers that decide fit
The MAX706PESA+: For a 3.3V supply, the 2.63V threshold sits roughly 20% below nominal, which is a typical brownout detection point. The reset timeout is 140ms minimum, meaning the output stays asserted for at least 140ms after the supply recovers above threshold, giving the rail time to settle before the processor starts. The output is Active High, push-pull (totem pole), so it drives a logic-high reset signal without needing an external pull-up resistor. The push-pull stage can source and sink current, which suits CMOS reset inputs that expect a clean rail-to-rail swing.
Package and temperature grade
Housed in an 8-SOIC (0.154-inch width, 3.90mm body), surface-mount package. The 8-SOIC is a JEDEC-standard outline, so the PCB footprint is shared with hundreds of other supervisor ICs — no layout surprise.
Active lifecycle — no end-of-life risk
Analog Devices lists the MAX706PESA+ as Active (current production). The part is ROHS3 compliant.
