What the 5kW peak pulse rating means
The 5KP24CA-AT/B: At 131.1 A peak pulse current, the clamping action forces the transient to this voltage level, clamping at 38.9 V maximum to protect whatever load sits behind it.
Automotive-grade thermal headroom
Rated junction temperature -55 °C to 150 °C — the upper limit sits at the junction, not the ambient, so a 105 °C under-hood ambient still leaves comfortable margin before the Tj ceiling becomes the limiting factor. The AEC-Q101 qualification ties this temperature grade to the automotive reliability stress suite, which is what the automotive customer needs for PPAP submission.
P600 axial package and board integration
P600 axial leads expect generous pad geometry and a robust solder fillet — the lead diameter and body length mean thermal cycling is kinder to the solder joint than a molded SMD part of equivalent rating, but the board footprint must accommodate the lead spacing and the through-hole plating. Bidirectional (CA suffix) — the diode clamps symmetrically on both polarities, which is the right topology for AC line protection or any node that sees reversible polarity in the field.
