8-SMD Gull Wing — rework-friendly footprint
The package is an 8-pin SMD with gull-wing leads, 8-SMD case code. Gull wings are about as rework-friendly as they come — you can lift the part with hot air and not worry about hidden pads or tented vias underneath. The leads are visible for inspection and touch-up. No exposed paddle to solder, so the thermal path is through the leads only; keep the ambient airflow reasonable if you're running near the 50 mA output limit at 125°C.
