BLDC fan controller — commutation and direction management
The Toshiba TB6551FAG,C,8,EL is a Bi-CMOS controller dedicated to commutation and direction management of brushless DC (BLDC) fans. It accepts a parallel interface for speed and direction commands and drives the motor through three half-bridge outputs. The part is designed specifically for fan controller applications, not general-purpose motor drives.
Supply rail and thermal envelope — what they mean for fit
The supply range is 6 V to 10 V, which covers common 12 V fan rails when regulated down, or direct 5 V to 9 V battery lines. The operating temperature range of -30°C to 115°C (ambient) covers industrial fan trays and outdoor telecom cabinets but does not reach full automotive under-hood grades. If your system sees sustained ambient above 115°C or needs -40°C cold start, this part is outside its rated window.
Package and footprint — 24-SOP / 24-SSOP
The TB6551FAG comes in a 24-SOP body (6.00 mm width, 0.236" pitch) with a supplier device package of 24-SSOP. It is surface-mount only. No through-hole alternative exists in this order code.
