Active production — 2 A bipolar stepper driver in 48-HTSSOP
The TB62214AFNG,C8,EL is a fully integrated bipolar stepper motor driver from Toshiba Semiconductor, combining control logic and DMOS power stage in one 48-HTSSOP package with an exposed thermal pad. Rated for 2 A continuous output current across a 10 V to 38 V motor supply range, this part drives bipolar steppers up to that current without an external FET stage — the DMOS outputs handle the commutation directly.
Step resolution and interface — 1, 1/2, 1/4 stepping via parallel pins
Step resolution is selectable between full-step, half-step, and quarter-step via the parallel interface — no SPI or I²C configuration, just pin strapping on the control inputs. The four half-bridge outputs (two per motor phase) are configured for bipolar stepper drive, meaning the current reverses direction through each winding to deliver holding torque at standstill. Operating junction temperature range is -20°C to 150°C, which covers industrial enclosures and motor-bay environments where the driver sits near the motor itself.
Package and board-fit — 48-HTSSOP with exposed pad
Available in Tape & Reel for automated assembly or Cut Tape for prototype and low-volume builds.
Lifecycle and compliance — active, RoHS3, no EOL notice
General-purpose application rating means it is not automotive-qualified (no AEC-Q grade), but it is suitable for office automation, industrial positioning, and consumer motion-control PCBs.
