Pre-biased PNP with integrated bias resistors
The Rohm RN2114MFV,L3F is a PNP pre-biased transistor — a digital transistor that integrates both the base resistor (R1) and the base-emitter resistor (R2) into a single SOT-723 package. This eliminates two external resistors from the board, saving placement cost and PCB area in high-density designs. The internal R1 is 1 kΩ and R2 is 10 kΩ, giving a predictable on/off threshold for low-side switching of loads up to 100 mA collector current and 50 V collector-emitter breakdown.
SOT-723 (VESM) — what the package means for the line
The SOT-723 package (Rohm's VESM designation) is a very small outline transistor package measuring roughly 1.2 × 1.2 mm with a 0.4 mm lead pitch. It is a surface-mount-only package — no through-hole equivalent. The small footprint suits compact consumer and portable electronics, but the 150 mW power dissipation ceiling means the junction temperature must be checked when switching continuous currents near the 100 mA limit, especially at elevated ambient temperatures.
