CCD front-end for consumer video pipelines
The Texas Instruments VSP3200Y is a CCD signal processor in a 48-LQFP (7x7) package, designed for consumer video applications. It integrates the correlated double sampling, programmable gain, and analog-to-digital conversion stages needed to condition the output of a CCD image sensor before passing the digitized pixel stream to a downstream video processor or ASIC. The serial control interface programs the gain, black-level clamp, and timing registers, so the part adapts to different sensor resolutions and frame rates without a parallel address bus. The supply range of 2.7 V to 5.3 V covers both 3.3 V and 5 V analog rails common in camera modules, but the digital I/O voltage must be compatible with the receiving logic — check the interface levels against the downstream device's VIH/VIL thresholds.
Package and footprint for board integration
The 48-LQFP (7x7 mm) body has a 0.5 mm pitch — a 4-layer PCB is recommended for fan-out of the inner rows. The exposed pad (if present on this variant) should be soldered to a thermal land on the top layer and stitched to the ground plane with vias to keep the junction temperature within the CCD sensor's noise floor. Surface-mount assembly is standard; no special bake-out is required for the LQFP package unless the moisture-sensitive level (MSL) on the reel label exceeds the floor-life exposure.
