Power stage and channel flexibility
The TAS5756MDCA is a PurePath™ Class D amplifier from Texas Instruments delivering 56 W into a 4 Ω load in mono (BTL) configuration or 28 W per channel into 4 Ω in stereo (SE) mode — one device covers both a single subwoofer channel and a full-range stereo pair by reconfiguring the output stage. Supply range is 2.9 V to 3.63 V, typical for a digital-input Class D amp running from a 3.3 V system rail; the integrated short-circuit protection latches off the output on a hard fault, so the downstream speaker and PCB traces see a controlled shutdown rather than continuous DC.
Package and thermal interface
Supplied in a 48-lead HTSSOP with an exposed thermal pad — the same footprint as the 48-TFSOP but the pad is the primary heat path. The pad must be soldered to a copper plane on the PCB; without it the 56 W output into 4 Ω drives the junction above the 85 °C ambient ceiling within seconds. Surface-mount only. The tube packaging is typical for prototype and low-volume builds; reel options exist for production but the order code specifies tube. Confirm the tube quantity against your line requirement before committing the BOM.
