What this Class D amp delivers on the board
The TAS5611APHD is a PurePath™ HD Class D amplifier from Texas Instruments, delivering 250 W into a 2 Ω load in mono mode, or 165 W per channel into 3 Ω in stereo mode. That kind of power density makes it a fit for active speakers, subwoofer modules, and compact PA amplifiers where you need high output without a massive heatsink. It runs from a 16 V to 34.1 V supply rail, so you can power it from a common 24 V brick or a regulated 30 V supply. The wide input range also gives you headroom for rail sag under heavy bass transients. The 64-TQFP Exposed Pad package — specifically the 64-HTQFP (14x14 mm) variant — is hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron and some patience, though a hot-air station makes the exposed-pad joint much cleaner. The pad underneath is the main thermal path, so a good solder fillet there keeps the die temperature under control during sustained output.
Protection features that save a build
On-chip short-circuit and thermal protection means the amp shuts down before the output FETs or the PCB traces let the magic smoke out. The depop feature suppresses the turn-on thump that would otherwise hit the speaker — useful if you're powering a direct-coupled output without a relay. Differential inputs reject ground-loop noise between the source and the amp board, which is a common headache in multi-channel builds where the signal ground and power ground share a return path.
