Product details

Schmitt-trigger noise margin and signal conditioning

The SN74HC14DRG3: The Schmitt-trigger inputs provide defined hysteresis: the low-level threshold is 0.3 V to 1.2 V, and the high-level threshold is 1.5 V to 4.2 V, depending on supply voltage. This hysteresis rejects noise on slowly changing or noisy input signals, making the part suitable for debouncing switch contacts, squaring up oscillator waveforms, and interfacing with sensors that have slow edge rates. Quiescent current is a maximum of 2 µA across the supply range, keeping the standby power draw negligible in battery-powered or always-on subsystems. Each output can source or sink 5.2 mA, sufficient to drive CMOS logic inputs or low-current LEDs directly. Maximum propagation delay is 21 ns at 6 V with a 50 pF load, setting the practical toggle rate ceiling. For a 5 V system, the actual delay will be slightly longer; the 74HC family's speed is adequate for control logic, debounce circuits, and low-frequency clock conditioning up to several megahertz.

The Tape & Reel (TR) and Cut Tape (CT) options allow both volume reel feeding and prototype quantities.
