Schmitt-trigger inverter with 5 V logic
The SN74ACT14NS is a hex inverter from the 74ACT family, each channel incorporating a Schmitt-trigger input for hysteresis-based noise rejection.
Input thresholds and noise margin
The Schmitt-trigger inputs define distinct low and high logic levels: 0.5 V to 1.4 V for a low input, and 1.2 V to 2.1 V for a high input. This hysteresis — a minimum of 0.2 V between the worst-case low-to-high and high-to-low thresholds — rejects noise on slow or noisy input edges without external filtering.
Output drive and timing
Each output sources or sinks 24 mA, sufficient to drive standard TTL loads or short PCB traces. Propagation delay is 11.5 ns maximum at 5 V into a 50 pF load, setting the data-rate ceiling for a single gate in a 5 V logic chain.
Package and board integration
The supplier device package is designated 14-SO. The tube packaging is suitable for hand-assembly or low-volume pick-and-place; for reeled tape, order the tape-and-reel variant.
