400Mbps full-duplex LVDS — signal integrity across the backplane
The SN65LVDS049PWR: At 400Mbps each channel, the differential swing stays within the LVDS standard (350 mV typical into a 100-Ω termination), keeping EMI low enough to run unshielded twisted-pair across a backplane without a separate ground plane between pairs. Full-duplex operation means both driver and receiver are active simultaneously on each of the two channels — the part handles bidirectional point-to-point links without external direction control, saving a GPIO on the controller side.
