9-channel RS-485 transceiver for high-density serial buses
Channel count and bus topology — nine ports in one footprint
The 9/9 driver/receiver count is the headline feature. Most RS-485 transceivers offer one or four channels; this part consolidates nine full RS-422/RS-485 ports into a single IC, saving board area and reducing per-channel component count on multi-drop or multi-point serial backplanes. The half-duplex topology means each channel uses a single twisted pair for bidirectional data, with the driver and receiver sharing the bus. The 45 mV hysteresis filters noise on the differential inputs, which matters on long cables or in electrically noisy industrial environments.
Supply rail and temperature grade — 5 V legacy, industrial range
If the rest of your BOM runs on 3.3 V, you will need a separate 5 V rail or a level-shifting buffer.
Package — 56-TSSOP footprint considerations
The 56-TSSOP package (0.240" body width, 6.10 mm) is a fine-pitch surface-mount footprint. Plan for a 4-layer PCB at minimum to route the nine differential pairs cleanly. The 0.5 mm lead pitch requires careful solder-paste stencil design; a 0.125 mm stencil thickness is a common starting point.
