The PCF8574APW is an 8-bit I/O expander communicating over the I²C bus at up to 100 kHz, with a dedicated interrupt output (INT) that signals the host when an input changes state. Each I/O pin can be configured as input or output; the push-pull outputs source 1 mA and sink 25 mA, enough to drive LEDs or small relays directly without a buffer.
Supplied in Tube format; the surface-mount package suits automated pick-and-place assembly.
The base product number is PCF8574. The PCF8574APW is the 'A' variant with a different I2C slave address range (0x38–0x3F) versus the non-A version (0x20–0x27). Both are pin-compatible in the same 20-TSSOP package, so a layout can accept either by adjusting the address in firmware.
