For designs that need the I/O expander to run from a 1.8 V rail or survive under-hood automotive temperatures (125°C), this part is not the fit — the TCA9536ADTMR (1.65 V minimum, -40°C to 125°C) is a functional alternative, though it offers only 4 I/O and open-drain outputs.
It is ROHS3 compliant. There is no LTB risk or imminent obsolescence to plan around for new designs.
