Product details

8-bit I2C GPIO expander for 2.3V to 5.5V logic domains

The PCA9554ARGVR is an 8-bit I/O expander that communicates over an I2C or SMBus interface at up to 400 kHz, adding eight general-purpose push-pull outputs or inputs to a host microcontroller without dedicating a port.

Industrial temperature grade and per-pin drive current

Each I/O can source 10 mA or sink 25 mA, enough to drive a standard LED directly or switch a small-signal relay through a transistor — the sink current is the higher figure, so plan the load between the pin and ground. A dedicated interrupt output (INT) pulls low when an input state changes, letting the host sleep between events instead of polling the bus — useful in battery-powered sensor nodes or panel controllers with a wake-on-change architecture.

Package, footprint, and supply integration

The POR (power-on reset) feature ensures the outputs default to a known high-impedance state at power-up, preventing unintended actuator or LED drive until the host configures the port direction.

Active lifecycle and compliance standing

ROHS3 compliant, meaning the part is free of lead, mercury, cadmium, and the four phthalates restricted under EU Directive 2011/65/EU — documentation for regulatory filing is available at quote time.
