Package and thermal reality
The DDPAK/TO-263-7 is a surface-mount package with an exposed metal tab. That tab is the primary heat path — it must be soldered to a copper plane on the PCB, preferably with thermal vias to inner layers. Without that, the 5.5 mA quiescent current plus output current can push the junction temperature above the 125°C rating in a warm enclosure. The tab is also electrically connected to the negative supply rail (V-), so the PCB layout needs to account for that — no shared copper pour with signal ground unless you isolate it.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The OPA452FAKTWT carries an Active product status and is ROHS3 compliant. There is no end-of-life notice or last-time-buy window.
