Li-Ion charger with I²C control in a 2.46 mm² footprint
The LP3918TLX/NOPB: Housed in a 25-DSBGA package measuring 2.46 x 2.46 mm, it fits into compact PCBs where every square millimeter counts — the 0.4 mm ball pitch demands careful fan-out on the inner rows, but the footprint is smaller than a comparable QFN charger.
Charge current and protection profile
Delivers up to 950 mA programmable charge current for a single-cell Li-Ion pack at 4.2 V termination voltage — the constant-current phase is set via the I²C bus, so the same BOM serves different cell capacities by adjusting the charge rate in firmware. Built-in reverse-current fault protection prevents the battery from discharging back through the charger when input power is removed — a design consideration for systems where the charger output stays connected to the battery bus during standby.
Active status and compliance baseline
The 6 V maximum supply voltage means the charger runs directly from a 5 V USB bus or a regulated 5 V rail without an additional buck converter — the input overvoltage margin is 1 V above the nominal 5 V.
