Product details

What this current-sense amplifier does on your board

It converts a small differential voltage across a shunt resistor into a ground-referenced output, scaled for direct connection to an ADC or comparator. The 60 kHz gain-bandwidth product sets the usable bandwidth for DC and low-frequency current monitoring. Input bias current is 0.04 pA. The 150 µV input offset voltage is the zero-current error.

Runs on a single 3 V to 5.5 V rail. The 1.1 mA supply current is low. Output can sink or source 48 mA.

Surface-mount only; no through-hole variant.

ROHS3 compliant, so it passes into European and California-restricted markets without exemption paperwork. The LMP® series is a TI precision portfolio; expect long-term availability consistent with that product line.

Frequently asked questions

Is LMP8603MA/NOPB obsolete?

No, the lifecycle status is Active. No discontinuation notice is in effect.

Is LMP8603MA/NOPB RoHS compliant?

Yes, it is ROHS3 compliant.

Can LMP8603MA/NOPB be used with a 3.3V ADC?

Yes. The supply voltage range is 3 V to 5.5 V, so a 3.3 V rail is within spec. The output swings rail-to-rail within the amplifier's capability, and the 48 mA output drive is sufficient to drive a typical ADC input.

What is the equivalent of LMP8603MA/NOPB?

A close functional peer is the INA254A1IPWAR from TI, also a single current-sense amplifier. The INA254 offers a 350 kHz bandwidth versus 60 kHz, and a 2.4 V/µs slew rate versus 0.83 V/µs, at a slightly higher supply current of 1.8 mA. Pin compatibility should be verified against the respective datasheets.
