1.57 GHz low-noise clock conditioner — what it does on the board
The Texas Instruments LMK04031BISQ/NOPB is a clock conditioner with an integrated PLL, designed to clean up jitter on reference clocks and generate multiple low-noise output frequencies up to 1.57 GHz. It accepts LVCMOS, LVDS, or LVPECL inputs and can deliver LVCMOS, LVDS, 2VPECL, or LVPECL outputs, making it a flexible clock-tree hub for high-speed data converters, FPGAs, and SerDes transceivers in communications infrastructure, test equipment, and RF backhaul.
I/O flexibility and the 2:6 fanout ratio
With a 2:6 input-to-output ratio and differential capability on both sides, this part can take two reference clocks and distribute six conditioned copies across a board. The ability to mix output standards — say, one LVDS path to an ADC and another LVPECL path to an FPGA — saves external level translators and simplifies the clock distribution layout.
The 3.15 V to 3.45 V supply range is tight — plan for a clean 3.3 V rail with ±5% regulation; a switching regulator feeding this part should have post-filtering to keep ripple off the PLL supply.
