The 1W x 1 @ 8Ω rating is the headline number for a small speaker driver. That is enough output for a portable Bluetooth speaker or a voice-prompt module in an appliance. The 110mW x 1 @ 32Ω figure covers headphone output — the same amplifier drives both loads, so a single-ended headphone jack and a mono speaker can share the chip with a simple output switch. No external buffer needed. Supply current scales with output; at lower listening levels the quiescent draw stays modest. The shutdown pin lets the system cut power to the amplifier when the audio path is idle, extending battery life in handheld gear.
