Dual op-amp in a compact 8-SOIC for general-purpose signal conditioning
It delivers a 0.5V/µs slew rate and draws 3mA per channel, making it suitable for audio preamplifiers, active filters, and sensor signal buffering in commercial-temperature (0°C to 70°C) environments. The two independent op-amps share a common supply span of 36 V maximum, simplifying dual-channel designs on a single rail.
Slew rate and bandwidth — what 0.5V/µs means for your signal path
A 0.5V/µs slew rate limits the full-power bandwidth to roughly 8 kHz for a 20 V peak-to-peak output swing. For lower amplitude signals (e.g., 2 Vpp), the bandwidth extends to about 80 kHz. This is adequate for 20 Hz–20 kHz audio processing or low-frequency control loops, but not for video or high-speed data acquisition.
Supply, temperature, and output drive
The LM1458MX operates from a single or dual supply up to 36 V total (e.g., ±18 V).
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
It is RoHS non-compliant — verify your assembly's exemption status if you need lead-free compliance. For dual-sourcing, the TLV9362IDDFR is a newer-generation rail-to-rail alternative with higher slew rate (25 V/µs) and lower input bias (10 pA), but its supply range is limited to 4.5 V to 36 V and the package is an 8-SOIC variant. The LM1458MX remains a drop-in for legacy BOMs where the original LM1458 or LM358 footprint is specified.
