The Texas Instruments LF198AH/NOPB is a monolithic sample-and-hold amplifier in a TO-99-8 metal can package. It holds the sampled voltage on an external capacitor with 1 mV input offset and 5 nA input bias current, drawing 4.5 mA from a supply rail between 10 V and 36 V. Package and mounting — through-hole reality
The TO-99-8 metal can is a through-hole package. It plugs into a standard 8-pin round socket or solders directly into plated through-holes. The metal can provides inherent shielding, useful in noisy environments. No surface-mount variant exists for this part — a retrofit to a modern SMD board requires a through-hole-to-SMD adapter or a different sample-and-hold family.
