What the LF156H is and where it fits
The LF156H is a single JFET-input operational amplifier from the BI-FET™ series, housed in a TO-99-8 metal can package. It delivers a gain-bandwidth product of 5 MHz and a slew rate of 12 V/µs, with an input bias current of just 30 pA and an input offset voltage of 3 mV. The part operates over the full military temperature range of -55°C to 125°C and accepts a supply span from 10 V to 44 V. Typical applications include precision analog signal conditioning, active filters, data acquisition front-ends, and servo loops in avionics, satellite, and downhole instrumentation where the wide temperature range and low input bias are required.
5 MHz GBW and 12 V/µs slew — what they mean on the bench
The 5 MHz gain-bandwidth product sets the small-signal bandwidth for a given closed-loop gain. The 12 V/µs slew rate supports output swings without significant slew-induced distortion.
Package and rework — TO-99-8 metal can
The TO-99-8 metal can is a through-hole package with eight leads on a circular footprint. Pin 1 is identified by a tab or dot on the can rim. Rework is straightforward with a soldering iron or hot-air station.
