150 Mbps capacitive-coupled isolator for industrial signal chains
It supports a 150 Mbps data rate with 16 ns propagation delay and 1 ns pulse-width distortion, making it suitable for isolating high-speed interfaces like SPI, CAN, or RS-485 in motor drives, industrial PLCs, and isolated power supplies.
What the 25 kV/µs CMTI means for a motor-drive design
Common-mode transient immunity of 25 kV/µs (minimum) means this isolator can reject fast voltage spikes that couple across the isolation barrier during IGBT switching in a motor inverter. If your application has high-side gate drivers or phase-leg switching, this rating directly determines whether the data link stays clean or corrupts under transient events.
Unidirectional channels — plan the direction before layout
The ISO7220MDG4 has two unidirectional channels both oriented from side 1 to side 2 (2 inputs on side 1, 0 on side 2). This is a fixed-direction part — it cannot be used for bidirectional communication on a single channel. For a bidirectional interface like isolated SPI (MISO/MOSI), you need one ISO7220 for the forward path and a second isolator (or a different part number) for the return path, or look at a bidirectional-capable isolator family.
