What this digital isolator does on the board
It is designed for general-purpose isolation of digital logic signals — SPI, UART, GPIO, or PWM — where the data path runs in one direction only. The two channels both transmit from Side 1 to Side 2, so this variant suits applications like isolating a microcontroller's SPI output to a remote ADC or driving isolated gate-driver signals from a controller. With a 150 Mbps data rate and 1 ns typical rise/fall times, it handles high-speed serial links without introducing excessive jitter.
The 150 Mbps data rate is the maximum bit rate the isolator can sustain; at this speed the propagation delay is 16 ns max, which gives a timing budget of roughly 6.6 ns per bit period at 150 Mbps. That leaves enough margin for most SPI clock rates up to 40–50 MHz, but for full 150 Mbps continuous streams the 1 ns pulse-width distortion becomes the tighter constraint. The 2500 Vrms isolation rating is the basic insulation level per UL 1577 — sufficient for industrial motor drives, PLC I/O modules, and medical equipment where reinforced isolation is not required.
