High-side current sense with wide common-mode range
This is a high-side current monitor — it measures current by sensing the voltage drop across a shunt resistor placed between the power supply and the load, rather than on the ground return side. The input voltage range spans -16 V to 80 V, meaning it can monitor current on a 12 V automotive rail, a 24 V industrial bus, or a 48 V telecom supply, and it survives reverse-battery conditions down to -16 V without damage. Rated accuracy is ±3.5%, which sets the measurement uncertainty floor — for a 1 A full-scale shunt drop, the reported current could be off by up to 35 mA before any temperature or layout effects are added.
